The original Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel clock presented by Selina, Countess of Huntingdon herself returns to the building it was created for.

A Gothic Jewel in a sea of Classicism
The Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel, home to the Building of Bath Collection, is a rare Gothic Revival building in a city dominated by Classicism. Dr Amy Frost explores the history of the chapel, the meaning behind the style and its place within the history of architecture in Bath.

The Classical Buildings of Bath
Join Mike Jenner, architectural writer and author of a new book on Bath, as he describes the city’s more notable classical buildings, explains the rules to which they were expected to conform, and tells how a few geniuses broke them to move European architecture and urban planning triumphantly forward.

Bath Green Homes 2013
Bath Green Homes is a community project organised by the Trust with Transition Bath and B&NES Council which looks at how we can make homes warmber, greener and cheaper to heat. The programme of events runs through March and April 2013 with an open homes’ event on 13th and 14th April. Please visit www.bathgreenhomes.co.uk for more information.
Beckford’s Tower & Museum

New Acquisitions at Beckford’s Tower
An exhibition highlighting the variety of smaller items to have entered the Beckford’s Tower collection over the last few years. Less high profile than our blockbuster pieces of furniture, but no less perfectly formed.

Lansdown: Bath’s Great North Road
When Beckford built the Tower, Lansdown was open downs with a dusty road leading to the racecourse. Dr Amy Frost reveals how the houses, school and landscapes developed on Lansdown Road as Bath expanded uphill towards Beckford’s solitary retreat.
No.1 Royal Crescent
The main house at No.1 Royal Crescent is currently closed to the public while the next exciting phase of the Whole Story project goes ahead.
But some of the restored wing will open on Saturday 9th February, including the new Brownsword Gallery showing Home Truths: Georgian Living Unlocked, an exhibition telling some of the fascinating stories behind the treasures in the No.1 collections. There will also be an authentic 18th century style museum shop. Watch this space for further news.

Home Truths: Georgian Living Unlocked
Every single item in your home has its own important story to tell. By looking into the history of objects found in No.1 Royal Crescent’s collection, this exhibition reveals how seemingly ordinary household objects have shaped our homes over 250 years. In this fascinating exhibition you’ll journey through five aspects of home life, discover quirky stories and find out how things worked. It is through showing No.1’s collection objects in a new light that we hope you will return to see the fully refurbished museum this summer.

Home Sweet Home Cushions
in association with the Home Truths Exhibition
Home crafts are making a comeback! The Georgians loved spending time at their embroidery tables. Design and stich your own pin cushion to take home. Activities will be available for younger children. Suitable for ages 8+

Unlock Georgian Living Trail
Find the exhibition objects and discover more about why they were so useful for households in the C18th. Receive a chocolate reward in the museum shop for your completed trail!
BATH IN FASHION

The Revival of Opulent Dress in association with Bath in Fashion
A week to showcase the fashion design talent of tomorrow
In January a competition was set for Bath’s aspiring fashion designers to design a contemporary outfit reflecting C18th style. The No.1 inspired fashion designs of our talented finalists now form part of an inspiring display in No.1’s beautifully refurbished museum. Come and see the beautiful new gallery space and review the exciting entries and winner.

Meet the Fashion Designers in association with Bath in Fashion
Come along to a special evening event to see which of our finalists will be crowned ‘No.1 Royal Crescent’s Young Fashion Designer of the Year’. Discover more about fashion in the C18th and find out what inspired their final designs.

The Whole Story Project Family Trail
It is a team effort to transform and open a museum. Take on the challenge of starting your own family project team as you follow this trail around the building to discover more about its refurbishment. Solve a problem in every trail location and receive your free Easter treat in the museum shop.

World Heritage Day
Between 11am and 3pm experience C18th Bath with Pulteney’s 13th Regiment of Foot encamped in front of No.1 Royal Crescent. Listen to English music with The Bath City Jubilee Waits and songs for springtime in the Georgian Garden (on Gravel Walk). Costumed characters and guided tours will help you find out more about social life in C18th Bath.

Dressing Caroline
Clever Caroline Herschel discovered eight comets, but she also looked pretty in white muslin and lace! Come and see her dress, her dainty shoe-buckles, locket and ring. Cut, colour, decorate and dress your own Caroline doll and play with our replica C18th dolls house.

ABOUT THE TRUST
Bath Preservation Trust was set up in 1934 to safeguard the historic city of Bath. Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the only complete city in the UK afforded World Heritage Status. For more information about our World Heritage education resources please click here
The purposes of the Trust are:
• to encourage and support the conservation, evolution and enhancement of Bath and its environs within a framework appropriate both to its historic setting and its sustainable
future;
• and to provide educational resources which focus on the architectural and historic importance of the city.
The Trust also runs or helps to run four of the best museums in Bath:
• No. 1 Royal Crescent
• Building of Bath Collection
• Beckford’s Tower
• Herschel Museum of Astronomy
The Trust receives no statutory funding and is supported by donations, grants, and income from visitors to its museums, as well as 1400 members who share a passion for the city and its environs.
The quality of its learning provision at the Building of Bath Collection has recently been recognised by a Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
