Southcot Burial Ground Open Day Sun 12th Sep 2010, 10:30am - Sun 12th Sep 2010, 3:30pm

The old Baptist Burial Ground at the bottom of Lyncombe Hill is a hidden oasis in the centre of Bath. Owned and managed by Bath Preservation Trust, it is a peaceful haven for wildlife as well as an important historical record that helps document the history of the Baptist community in Bath. On Sunday 12th September we will be opening the burial group between 10.30am and 3.30pm. We will also be offering 15 minute guided tours at 11.00am and 2.30pm, led by Tony Walters, Professor of Death Studies at the University of Bath.

There will be a nature trail to encourage children to explore the site. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Directions -
The site is located at the bottom of Lyncombe Hill. Walk up Lyncombe Hill and look for a narrow passage on the left (after three houses). The Burial Ground is accessed through the iron gates at the end of this passage.

Public Transport Details -
The Burial Ground is approximately 100 metres from Bath Spa Train station (and Bath bus station). To reach the site from the train station, walk through the underpass that takes you behind the station and over the footbridge that crosses the river. Cross the A36, turn right and look for the turning to Lyncombe Hill on the left.
